VENICE BRIDGE MUSEUM
Venice, Italy, 2006

Built in 1933 to the design of Engenio Miozzi, the Accademia bridge was constructed in wood and later reinforced in steel. The proposal for the new Accademia Bridge is a structure inclusive of a museum and support spaces, a cafe over the canal, gardens and a crossing of the Canale Grande. de by a ramp terminating in a ramp with a landing and stairs. This tube is a double skin construction with the glass pattern suggestive of the decorative overlay of Venetian patterns. The exhibition spaces are stepped within the tube and accommodate a variety of spatial organizations. The galleries are anchored at the base by a cubic structure that has entry hall, reception, toilets and offices. The second level of the base is an outdoor cafe that projects into the canal.
