Perth Amboy High School is a facility of 1,000,000 SF intended to house an experimental high school reflecting the technological changes in the way students learn and eventually work. The first year class is a liberal arts education with emphasis on computer technology. After this initial year students are divided by interest, aptitude and testing into specific areas of study. Each area of study is clearly expressed, with common facilities such as gymnasium, auditorium, resources center and dining located at points that have connections to these study groups. Additionally exterior spaces are designed as the unifying fabric of the facility. The largest of these exterior spaces is one level below grade.
