Kenneth Hobgood received a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Kentucky in 1977 and a Masters Degree in Architecture from Yale University in 1980. At UK his education included studies with Julian Fuentes (chief architectural assistant to Le Corbusier), Daniel Liebeskind, Fred Koetter, Clyde Carpenter and Pucci Dallerba. Prior to establishing Kenneth Hobgood Architects he worked under the direction of Mack Scoggin at Heery and Heery in Atlanta and Roger Clark at O’brien Atkins in the Research Triangle. He has been a visiting critic at Auburn University, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, and the University of Kentucky and an adjunct professor at North Carolina State University since 1988.
In 1997 Kenneth Hobgood was the reciepent of the Kamphoeffner Prize for “consistent integrity and devotion to modern architecture.” His office has received 34 design awards from the AIA and has been published and exhibited in Japan, Germany, Italy, England, and the US. The quality of the work of Kenneth Hobgood Architects is in large part a result of the collobaration with a number of young talented architects. These include Bob Thomas, Alan Tin, John Caliendo, Kathleen Mattingly, Mark Reyer, Keith Helmstetler, and Cisco Gomes.
